Fourth round of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz UCI Downhill World Cup in Andorra is behind us and we have a new top result – Žak finished in 8th place!!!

Žak Gomilšček was our only team member this weekend in Andorra for fourth round of Mercedes-Benz UCI Downhill World Cup. The track from Pal Arinsal mountain down to La Massana city is known for its long, steep and physical exhausting characteristics. This time, the venue offered hot and sunny weather which turned track into ankle deep powder and slippery track.

Žak proved he’s not afraid of long, rough and dusty track conditions with a win on IXS European Downhill Cup in Abetone (ITA) just the week before World Cup in Andorra. This time it was no different as he qualified in 11th place on Fridays qualification race. For Saturdays Final run he improved his time on difficult track and he finished on stellar 8th place and setting new milestones – this was his personal best World Cup result so far and also new best team result.

After the race he said: “I had so much fun riding bikes this weekend. I really enjoyed every moment of it. The first day of practice I did 8 runs just because I had so much fun 🙂 In qualifying, I rode a too aggressive and made a few big mistakes, but it was still enough for 11th place. In the finals I rode a bit smarter but at the bottom section I had minor problem with front brake which slowed me a bit down, but still ended up on great 8th place. I’m really super happy with my speed and the feeling on the bike! Of course, I’m already looking forward to next weekend in France.”
